slides

Here are some slides I scanned from when I was living on Oahu. 3 are from the 04' Pipe Masters and the other is my friend Jona at Sandies. I'm still trying to figure out the proper settings for my scanner, sorry the resolution isn't precise.

RIP Kyle's Mini

Back in 2006, my good buddy Kyle Carnohan, had a dream. A dream turned reality that would cater to most of our wildest dreams. He built a mini ramp, although "mini" does not defy this mega ramp. Days upon days were spent on this large creation sipping brews, rapping out with friends, shredding, basically planting memory seeds that will last forever. Kyle ended up selling the house and had to get rid of the ramp. I had archived footage of this masterpiece that I wanted to use for a later project, but I thought it would be more dominant if I said thanks Kyle for letting us shred the best mini in So Cal, enjoy the footage.

So... THANKS KYLE

CORRECTION - These are not self portraits, but they are trademarked photos of the 1 and only Nolan Torrez aka Nig T. As long as I've known Nolan, for about 14 years, I've known that he likes to hunt. If you remember the bush on the side of the 484 house, you would believe me when I say Nolan hung out in that bush a lot, HUNTING. Hunting for photos like these. I had no idea he was there just lurking with camera in hand. Lucky for him, I got my tricks dialed like Haslam so it probably made for easy shooting. Shoot em, stuff em, hang em on da wall. Thanks Nig T for the shots.

Calling all mothers

So I recently found out my cool sister-in-law, Katie, had started a blog generally focusing on motherhood. Like my mom and dad, my brother Kevin and his wife Katie, also had 3 boys. They are the coolest nephews ever. A few months back, a girlfriend and I babysat only 2 of my nephews for a few hours and I was mentally and physically drained. I do NOT understand how my mom and Katie manage 3 boys 24-7.

So for all my friends that follow my blog, if you have kids, check out Katie's blog here.
Cheers.

Heartrate, pulse, oxygen level...all good.

So my good friend Bree's little brother Canaan had major back surgery last Wednesday. I went down with her Thursday to Childrens Hospital to see him and hang out inside his labrynth. I was very humbled and saddened when I saw all the kids with cancer. 5 year olds walking around with clown wigs on because they lost they're hair during chemo. I'll be the first to admit I take a lot of shit for granted in my life. It's good to be humbled sometimes.

We brought Canaan a variety of movies, cupcakes (which he couldn't eat, nothing solid), and an iPod charger. He was doped up on a lot of morphine, 75mg to be exact, which had him floating on cloud 9. He was out of it for the most part, but still managed to crack some jokes and converse about the cute nurses or the night nurse known as "Party Pete".

We raged with Canaan until they kicked us out about 20 minutes after visiting hours. Headed to a sweet luxurious 5 star hotel, courtesy of Linda Knapp, and continued to party there. Bree and I headed to the bar for a drink and did some people watching. We non discretely viewed a Jewish couple try and have the bartender search for anything Kosher that they could mix into a drink. It didn't look fun so Bree and I settled for a beer and vodka cran.

We then headed back to the hotel to find Nate and Linda doing some extreme TV watching (they partied to hard at the hospital which is why they didn't join us at the bar). I went for a 5 minute jacuzzi session and then we jumped on some beds and had a pillow fight.
